TESTIMONIALS

"We were so honored to work with Dean and Building for Nonprofits for a second time this summer to come up with a project that would help Grassroots better serve our youth and community. Dean’s passion and hard work for helping others is evident. It was a delight to work alongside him and the whole Building for Nonprofits team to design a shed that will house all of our equipment for outdoor education and tennis. Thank you for dedication to our mission and supporting local nonprofits with your talent."                                            -Samantha Hayes, Senior Manager, Events & Communications of Norwalk Grassroots Tennis

"Dean Ambrose and Building for Nonprofits came to Pet Animal Welfare Society of CT or PAWS when we really needed help.  PAWS is a no-kill animal shelter dedicated to the rescue and adoption of our community’s homeless and abused cats and dogs.  PAWS can house up to 100 animals at a time.  As animals need food, litter, cleaning supplies, medical supplies, towels, etc, the very generous community would donate these items to PAWS and leave them by the side of the garage.  Sometimes these donations would block the area for medical pick up and the egress to which we walked dogs. Dean Ambrose and his organization Building for Nonprofits could see our issue and quickly designed, created, and built a three-story shelving unit complete with a roof for inclement weather to hold the many non-financial donations we receive from the very caring public.   We are eternally grateful for the professionalism shown and the efficient storage that these shelves provide.  We are not greedy, but hope Dean and team take on another project for us.  They are the best!"         -Ellen Simmonds, Executive Director of Pet Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Norwalk

"Partnering with the St Luke’s School Building for Non Profits Club was a win win win for the Darien Land Trust. Club founder, Dean Ambrose, ‘23, led fellow students to expertly produce 20 cedar birdhouses for the land trust to sell at upcoming community events. They added the land trust logo to the birdhouses which increases our organization’s visibility and underscores our mission of preserving land and protecting wildlife habitats.  And best of all, our local bluebirds will find increased nesting opportunities for generations to come." Elizabeth Mathus, Vice President of Darien Land Trust

“We were very impressed with Dean Ambrose’s initiative to create a club at school that would help fulfill a need in the community and raise awareness amongst his peers about various nonprofits in Fairfield county.  Building for Nonprofits was a blessing to Filling in the Blanks. Dean was extremely thoughtful in explaining the mission of the club and how he and his team would execute the project.  We were so excited to be the first non-profit the club would be working with.

At Filling in the Blanks we have a few thousand volunteers enter the warehouse yearly to pack our weekend meal bags. We had been talking about a desk/storage unit to house all of the items volunteers needed during their time in the warehouse for quite a while, we had been using a folding table as our volunteer welcome area.

When Dean contacted us, it was the perfect timing.  The storage unit has custom-sized shelving for volunteer waivers, name tags, masks/gloves, an area to store water for the volunteers, a custom cut-out for a white board, and a shelf on the side of the unit which holds a computer for volunteers to fill out waivers online.  Everything is now in one organized place.

Dean was very professional, asking very detailed questions about our needs and wanted to know how the unit would be used by volunteers. Dean sent us a rough draft of the unit and we worked together with our volunteer coordinator, to make sure the unit would be functional and visually pleasing.  It was really cool to see pictures of the unit being built at St. Luke's in various stages of the process.  The unit is beautifully constructed, it came out even better than we had envisioned.  The unit is the first point of contact for FITB's volunteers, and many people have commented on how nice the unit is.

Building for Nonprofits allows organizations to further enhance their operations through a collaborative effort.  For Filling in the Blanks, it was perfect timing to help us fulfill our vision.  The team of students under Dean’s leadership were a pleasure to work with and we look forward to collaborating on another project in the future.“
